Randy J. Newman is an American actor.
Born in Santa Cruz, California, Newman is the oldest of four children. Following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, which damaged the family home, his family relocated and eventually settled in Salinas, California, where he spent the remainder of his childhood.
Newman developed a strong work ethic at an early age, beginning work at 12 by selling newspaper subscriptions. Throughout his career, he has worked in a variety of professions, including sales, legal services, accounting, private security, and information technology. In 2007, he relocated to Rancho Cordova, California, and in 2012 began a career in information technology.
At the age of 44, Newman began pursuing acting. He made his screen debut as a police officer in Gatham 2 - The Rage (2024). His subsequent credits include Beyond Darkness (2024), in which he portrayed Jack Applegate, and Greetings from St. Helena (2024). In 2025, he appeared as Warden Emmett Gray in Containment, portraying the calculating administrator of Camp Genesis, a high-security prison whose rigid belief in order drives many of the film's central conflicts.
In addition to acting, Newman has continued his career in information technology. His professional experience across multiple industries has provided a broad perspective that he brings to his performances.
Newman married Luv Newman in March 2003, and the couple had two children, Andrew and Lily. Following their divorce, they remained close friends while co-parenting their children. In 2025, Newman married Jessica Pekke, and together they have one son, Adam.
