CineMood (“we”, “us”) is a movie discovery and social watching product at cinemood.app, built by Youssef Mohamed. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website and related services.

Account details. When you register we store your name, email, password (hashed), username, bio, avatar, and optional social links.

Taste & activity. To power Movie DNA, Passport, recommendations, and your lists we may store onboarding picks, ratings, reviews, watchlist and bookmark items, favorites, memories (including photos you upload), and Movie Night participation.

Social features. Friend connections, messages you send, community posts, polls, and reactions are stored so those features work.

Technical data. We may collect device/browser info, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, cookies/session tokens, and basic usage events needed to keep CineMood secure and reliable.

Third-party film data. Movie and TV titles, posters, backdrops, cast, ratings, and related metadata are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB) via their API. That catalog content is not your personal data, but your interactions with it (ratings, saves, lists) are tied to your account. CineMood is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. • Personalize discovery (Blind Pick, Roulette, AI picks, Movie DNA)
• Enable Movie Nights, friends, messages, community, and memories
• Improve product quality, fix bugs, and prevent abuse
• Send important service emails (security, resets) and optional product updates you allow
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data only when needed:

• With other users — based on your privacy settings (profile, posts, public activity)
• Service providers — hosting, email delivery, analytics, and storage vendors who process data for us under contract
• Legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect CineMood users and the service

We use essential cookies/session tokens so you stay signed in and the app works. We may use limited analytics to understand what is broken or popular. You can clear cookies in your browser; signing out clears your active session on that device.

• Remove items from watchlist, bookmarks, memories, and posts you created
• Request access, correction, or deletion of your account data via Contact (topic: Privacy request)

If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize personal data that identifies you, except where we must keep limited records for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

CineMood is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child created an account, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

We use industry-standard measures such as hashed passwords and access controls. No online service is perfectly secure — please use a strong unique password.

We keep account and activity data while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for backups, disputes, or legal obligations.

CineMood may be hosted in regions different from where you live. By using the service you understand your information may be processed in those locations with appropriate safeguards.

We may update this policy as CineMood grows. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a clearer notice in the app or by email when appropriate.
