
In a small town, Nina Antonova works at a garment factory. She is not a particularly modern young woman — modest, romantic, and trusting, despite having been deceived by men more than once. Nina has a fiancé whom she loves deeply and for whom she is ready to go to the ends of the earth. For his sake, she quits her job at the factory and even sells her house. But at the last moment, the weak-willed young man is taken away from his bride by his parents. The betrayal destroys Nina’s former innocence. Her friends sincerely try to help the unhappy girl move on — inviting her to gatherings and introducing her to “promising” suitors. But Nina no longer trusts anyone. She has come to believe that princes no longer exist and that all men are irritating. Most of all, the tenant whom the factory director has arranged to stay in her house…
