Wulan is plagued by a recurring nightmare and is advised to get married to cure herself of it. Unfortunately, her husbands keep dying on their wedding night. Her misfortune becomes the gossip of her neighbors, who then start scheming to kill her. A young religious teacher comes to the village and ends up falling in love with her. But will he be the next to die?
