Kid Hart, whose father is killed by a ruthless gang leader for attempting to abandon his life of crime. Raised by the very same gang, Kid develops a deep, psychological fear due to childhood trauma involving firearms. He remains trapped in a cycle of petty crime and cowardice until he falls in love with Orchid McGonigle, a fellow gang member who is also determined to go straight. Inspired by her, Kid ultimately finds his courage at a crucial moment, overcomes his fear to save the day, and marries Orchid.
